I have been enthralled by fashion and style since the age of about 8 when I discovered the fashion magazine stash of the UCLA student living with my family as a babysitter, and I haven’t stopped devouring every publication I can get a hold of (now including blogs, newsletters, etc.) since!
At one point in my 20′s, however, it dawned on me that what I was most interested in was a person’s innate style, i.e.how they present themselves to the world both on a daily basis and on occasions, rather than in fashion itself. I then started studying style icons historically, how these individuals’ senses of style developed, what became their signature looks, etc. (Some of my current faves: Kelly Wearstler, Diana Vreeland, Diane Keaton, Rachel Ashwell, and the Olsen twins!!)
In the process of doing this I developed my own signature style – funky, bohemian, a bit edgy, but always feminine, approachable and professional when and where appropriate. This sense of style has evolved throughout my 14 years of practicing law as a litigator, from casual Fridays (in LA, yet!), to the courtroom, being a stay at home mom and still managing to look chic, to co-partnering in my event planning company, Quintessential Parties, known for wildly creative and inventive décor.
I often hear the comment from friends and acquaintances “Only you could get away with that!” I always choose to take this as a compliment(!), and often wonder what fears particularly women have that apparently prevent them from taking risks (even little ones!). This taken with the fact that I constantly get calls and emails from those friends and acquaintances, asking for advice and resources, and that I love being a connector and helping people to mine and maximize the resources they already have or have immediately at hand led me to the realization that offering my skills, vision, love for style and fascination with how one projects themselves the way they most want to be seen in every aspect of their lives would be an absolute blast!
I would love to help you evaluate and edit your wardrobe, give new life to the pieces you already own, fill in the blanks as to what you need and would like to move forward with in light of what you want to accomplish and how you see yourself at this point in your life and in phases to come; take you shopping (always within your budget) to assist you in making choices that will work; and work closely with you on a highly personal, one on one basis to guide you towards achieving your next, best self whether it be special occasion related or simply developing an attractive and easy daily uniform…I so look forward to meeting and working with you!
